“Jackie a Boy and a Dog” by Dr. Mark Bruce is an excellent illustration of God’s care and
concern for His children. Throughout the book, God can be seen arranging and rearranging
circumstances for His glory and the good of others. I believe that this book will be interesting
and encouraging to all readers.

What a fun, enlightening read. I am a dog lover at heart and any beautiful story of a love
between a dog and an owner fits well in my book. It was an honor to read this book written
by a friend and being able to hear his heart both for the dog and for Jesus Christ. Live the
life Jesus gave you with your whole heart! Never underestimate the influence you have.

“Jackie, a Boy, and a Dog: A Warm Cold War Story” touched my heart, amazed me, and renewed
my hope in God. The opening story of a boy and his dog immediately caught my attention. I felt
the pain of the young man when he lost his beloved pet. But then sorrow turned to astonishment
when Jackie Kennedy entered the story by giving the boy a very meaningful gift. Perhaps even
more amazing is that her influence continued as the boy grew into a young man.
Throughout the story, I saw God's hand at work. His care and concern for the heartache of a
young boy renewed my conviction that God cares for each of us and sees our struggles, big and
small.
This book will not only give you a heart-warming story but also reassure you that God cares for
you.

This is an endearing book that both young and old and those in between can enjoy. A shy young
boy with a faithful dog called Midget dreams of one day playing in the Majors and emulating his
hero “Stan the Man.” But he has a crushing accident in which he loses his dog. His faith stands
the test and slowly he puts his life together - with a huge ache inside. Meanwhile the Russians
and the Americans with the world holding its collective breath are staring each other down from
their nuclear loaded fortresses avoiding catastrophe by a policy named MAD - mutual assured
destruction. An ocean and a continent away in Vienna Kennedy and Khrushchev are facing off
over the Conference tables. The Russians have taken the lead in the Space Race and a Russian
canine has flown in space while the most beautiful and famous woman in the world raises her
family in the White House in between diplomatic visits in the capitals of the world.
If this sounds like a hopeless muddle be assured it is not - these are all pieces of a remarkable
true story. Children will enjoy reading about the dogs; granddads will remember the days of the
Cold war recounted; Dads will get a kick out of a kid wanting to be a star and ladies will learn
more about the glamorous lady in high society. And in the process of reading they will be
introduced to a story of childlike faith - not childish faith - that would  not quit; of generosity and
kindness manifest in surprising ways, of “coincidences & quot”; that point to divine intervention and the
recognition that in the days of Mutually Assured Destruction and in the bleak nights of the Cold
War human kindness still blossomed and a young boy’s prayers were being answered.
Reminders we still need today.
